The Wilhelmus is the national anthem of the Netherlands, composed around 1568-1572 during the Eighty Years' War. It is the oldest national anthem in the world that is still officially in use. The text is an acrostic: the first letters of the fifteen stanzas spell "WILLEM VAN NASSOV". The music mechanism is mounted on a small wooden board, which gives the melody a louder and fuller sound. A special Dutch gift or souvenir!
