The Lion Sleeps Tonight was originally composed by South African singer Solomon Linda in 1939 as "Mbube". It became world-famous through The Tokens' version (1961) and popular again thanks to the film The Lion King (1994). The musical mechanism is mounted on a small wooden board, which gives the melody a louder and fuller sound.
