Bekking & Blitz | Edward Hopper | Ground Swell

A stylish art card by Bekking & Blitz featuring a reproduction of Ground Swell by Edward Hopper. The work depicts a sailing boat on a clear blue sea, bathed in summer light, against a cloudy sky and with a striking buoy in the water.

At first glance, the scene exudes tranquillity and freedom, but as is often the case with Hopper, there is also a subtle tension within the image. The empty sea, the gaze of the figures and the buoy lend the work a mysterious, almost cinematic atmosphere. A beautiful card for lovers of the sea, sailing, American art and contemplative painting. Blank inside, so you can write your own personal message.

Edward Hopper (1882-1967) painted Ground Swell in 1939. Although at first glance the work depicts a peaceful sailing trip, the buoy is often seen as a subtle warning sign. The National Gallery of Art points out that the bell buoy and the high clouds may refer to impending danger or changing weather.
