Dick Bruna (1927-2017) was an Utrecht-based graphic designer and illustrator, known worldwide as the creator of Miffy. He worked with simple shapes, clear black lines and a limited number of bright colours. It is precisely because of this that Miffy and his other characters are immediately recognizable worldwide and appeal to both children and adults.
