This musical mechanism combines the cheerful melody of the French Can-Can from ‘Orphée aux Enfers’ (1858) by Jacques Offenbach with the iconic Art Nouveau poster ‘Bières de la Meuse’ (1897) by Alphonse Mucha. The Can-Can became world-famous as the signature dance number of the Moulin Rouge in Paris. Mucha’s poster is one of the finest examples of the Jugendstil style. The music box is mounted on a small wooden board, which gives the melody a louder and richer sound.
